The API 5CT standard is developed by the American Petroleum Institute (API) to ensure the quality and reliability of drilling pipeline pipes, in order to ensure the safe production of oil and natural gas. This standard specifies the material requirements, manufacturing process, inspection requirements, as well as marking and packaging requirements for drilling pipeline pipes.
Material requirements
The API 5CT standard has strict requirements for the materials of drilling pipeline pipes, including chemical composition, mechanical properties, and hardness. Specifically, the material of pipeline pipes must meet certain chemical composition requirements, such as carbon (C), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S) content limitations. In addition, the mechanical properties such as tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and impact energy of the material also need to meet standard requirements to ensure safe operation under high pressure, high temperature, and harsh environments.
